Rare Shenandoah Valley Redware Bowl with Profuse Green and Brown Slip Decoration, probably Hagerstown, MD, early 19th century, with footed base and distinctive rim molding, the interior profusely-decorated with alternating trails of green and brown slip. Interior base with unusual floral motif with spotted petals, embellished with dashed green rays. A finely-decorated example. Provenance: Recently found in Southwestern Virginia. Two in-the-firing contact marks to shoulder on interior. Two small in-the-firing stone pings to interior. Typical wear and shallow chips to rim. Chipping to foot. Wear to interior base. H 2 7/8" ; Diameter 11 3/4".
