Extremely Rare Miniature Stoneware Keg with Incised and Cobalt-Highlighted Bird and Floral Decorations, Albany, NY origin, circa 1810-1820, ovoid form with raised and cobalt-highlighted banding, the midsection with applied octagonal bunghole. Front with incised and cobalt-highlighted floral design featuring a daisy-shaped blossom surrounding the bunghole. Floral surmounted by an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a bird with long tail, perched on a stem. Exceptional size and form with outstanding decoration. A fine example of early New York State stoneware. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Excellent condition with some tiny chips to base, minor wear to bunghole, and a tight 1 1/2" line on top surface. H 4 1/2".
