Rare Three-Gallon Uniontown, PA Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Decoration, circa 1865, straight-sided crock with tooled midsection, flattened rim, and ribbed lug handles, decorated with a freehand tulip and stripe along with rare lily, checkerboard, and roman numeral "III" decorations in cobalt. These unusual designs allow for a firm attribution to Uniontown. Displayed at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art's Made in Pennsylvania: A Folk Art Tradition exhibit, 2007. Pictured in exhibition catalog, p. 68. Near mint condition with a chip to one handle and light wear to opposite handle. In-the-firing 1 1/4" separation line at base on front, continuing 3/4" onto underside. H 13".
