Rare One-Quart Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Date "1851," Southeastern PA origin, ovoid pitcher with tooled foot and collar, decorated with a central flowering plant motif and a swag-and-flower motif extending from the base of the collar on the left and right. Collar decorated with cobalt leaves and flowerheads. Spout decorated with a series of cobalt dashes. Brushed cobalt date "1851" on underside. Stoneware dated in this manner is highly unusual. Base chip. Hairline on underside, which does not go through to interior. H 5 3/4".
