Very Rare Small-Sized Multi-Glazed Redware Tankard Pitcher, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, with flattened back, rounded front, pouring spout, and applied handle, decorated with cream-colored slip and splashed green and brown glazes over an orange ground. This highly unusual, previously undocumented form was fashioned with a flattened back with squared edges, similar to the wallpockets also produced by the Eberlys. Heavy wear to spout. Additional wear to rim and base. H 5 1/8".
