Rare Redware Hen Whistle Bank with Incised Initials "M S" and Date "1822," probably Pennsylvania, possibly Montgomery County, circa 1822, redware bank in the form of a sitting hen with tail in the form of a whistle. Incised face and feather details. Initials "M S" incised on the tail, and date "1822" incised on underside. Clear lead glaze with cream-colored highlights. Rare form and early date.
